My hobbies

I started learning ballet at the age of 26. When I began, I only aimed at doing a little bit of sport, but I got so much encouragement from my teachers that I went on to practice dancing at a better level.
Of course, having started so late, I have no hope of becoming a famous ballerina, but I enjoy it very much and work at improving my technique, despite of the fact that I am not the youngest anymore.
Due to a few problems with an ankle, I hadto restrain training a few years ago, but that was the opportunity to start learning another dance style, modern. Since I have been learning this dance style, I have participated every year to the Tanzwerkstatt, one of the most striking dance events in Munich.

I have been practicing figure skating for a longer time than ballet, but less intensively since it is too seasonal. I enjoy it as much as ballet and I am happy I live in a northern country, since I can then go skating on the lakes in the winter, when the weather is really cold.

Yoga is not really a "hobby", but rather a discipline or a way of living. I begun to practice it because of back pains untill I discovered thank the philosoph Catherine Clément that yoga is not only a gymnastic. Since I am interested in philosophy, that gave me the impulsion to search for a yoga center where yoga is teached not only as a gymnastic and according to the Indian tradition. I now call regularly at the Sinvananda Yoga Center in Munich.

When I have some time left after all this sport, I open my books or switch on my computer to learn some languages. When I travel to a country, I don't hesitate to learn some basics of its language, which helps a lot socializing with the local people and understand their culture.

I like also to travel back to the past, which is a very relaxing leisure-time pursuit after work, when I am too tired to learn about languages.
I have always been interested in archaeology since I was a little girl. Back then I loved to read about Romans, Greeks and Egyptians of the ancient times. A few years ago, I begun delving into less known cultures, like Vikings, and especially the Celts and the Megalithic Cultures. When I am on holiday I like to visit archaeological sites thoughout Europe: going to see those "heaps of stones" – like my boyfriend says – is also a good opportunity to have a nice walk since those sites are mostly situated in beautiful, wild landscapes.

Since digital photography has appeared, I have been back to photography after long years. I am now the proud owner of an Olympus E620 and keep shooting everything since I have been in possession of this nice toy.
